The Lindsay Clancy case is horrifying on its own. But when we look at it through the lens of Scripture, it raises a much larger question: **What does this case reveal about where America is spiritually and culturally?**
Dr. Andy Woods joined me to discuss that question. We examined the rise of violence, the weakening of the sanctity of life, the influence of postmodernism, the breakdown of marriage and family, the biblical role of government, and why these developments may be part of a broader prophetic pattern.
A Tragic Case With Larger Cultural Implications
The case involves the death of three children at the hands of their mother, Lindsay Clancy.
There are serious issues surrounding the case that deserve to be discussed carefully.
I have previously interviewed psychiatrist Dr. Peter Breggin about the psychotropic medications Clancy was reportedly prescribed. He has spent decades warning about the dangers of psychiatric drugs and the way certain medications can affect behavior.
There is also the issue of postpartum depression.
I have spoken with physicians about how serious postpartum depression can be and how families need to understand the physiological and emotional changes that can occur after childbirth.
Those subjects matter.
But none of them erase the horror of what happened to three children.
The larger question is whether our culture is becoming increasingly willing to excuse murder rather than confront it.
When Society Begins Excusing Murder
Dr. Andy Woods went directly to Genesis 9.
After the violence of the pre-flood world, God established human government and gave it a specific responsibility.
Genesis 9:6 says:
> “Whoever sheds man’s blood, by man his blood shall be shed.”
Dr. Woods emphasized that human life has value because mankind is made in the image of God.
When a person commits murder, that individual has destroyed a life bearing God’s image.
The role of government is therefore not simply administrative. Government has a God-ordained responsibility to restrain evil and punish murder.
The concern is that modern society increasingly creates exceptions.
Temporary insanity.
Emotional distress.
Past abuse.
Political grievances.
Cultural explanations.
Every case begins producing another reason why the murderer should not be held fully accountable.
Dr. Woods argued that this weakens the deterrent effect of law and contributes to an increasingly violent culture.
From the Menendez Brothers to Modern America
Dr. Woods pointed to previous examples where society began creating moral justifications for murder.
He referenced the Menendez brothers case, where abuse was presented as justification for killing their parents.
The underlying message becomes dangerous:
If someone has wronged you badly enough, revenge can be justified.
That mindset has enormous consequences.
Once society begins normalizing exceptions to the prohibition against murder, the moral line begins moving.
Dr. Woods also pointed to political rhetoric surrounding terrorism and violence, where horrific acts are sometimes condemned and then immediately followed by explanations designed to make the perpetrators appear understandable.
The result is the same.
Murder becomes contextualized instead of condemned.
Revelation 9 and a World That Refuses to Repent
Dr. Woods connected this directly to Bible prophecy.
Revelation 9:20–21 describes a future world that refuses to repent of multiple sins, including murder.
That is significant.
The Tribulation period is characterized by widespread violence and a society so morally hardened that even divine judgment does not produce repentance.
Dr. Woods argued that when modern society rejects the sanctity of life, rejects the biblical purpose of government, and increasingly excuses murder, it begins resembling the environment Scripture describes.
The world is not yet in the Tribulation.
But the cultural foundation that could produce such a society is being laid.
As It Was in the Days of Noah
Jesus warned that the conditions surrounding His return would resemble the days of Noah.
Genesis 6 describes those days plainly.
The earth was corrupt.
The thoughts of mankind were continually evil.
And the earth was filled with violence.
That word should get our attention.
Violence.
We see it everywhere today.
Murder.
Abortion.
Terrorism.
Brutality.
The killing of children.
The increasing acceptance of euthanasia.
Our society is becoming increasingly comfortable with death when life becomes inconvenient, painful, expensive, or unwanted.
That is exactly the kind of moral collapse Scripture describes.
The Sacrifice of Children Has Not Disappeared
Scripture repeatedly condemns the sacrifice of children to Molech.
Leviticus 18 warns Israel not to give its children as offerings.
Deuteronomy condemns the nations for burning their sons and daughters in the fire to their gods.
Modern America does not build statues to Molech.
But we still sacrifice children.
We sacrifice them to convenience.
To materialism.
To personal freedom.
To lifestyle.
To the claim that another human life is simply an obstacle.
The terminology has changed.
The underlying rebellion against the sanctity of life has not.
Postmodernism and the Rejection of Absolute Truth
Another major theme is postmodernism.
Postmodernism teaches that truth and reality are created by individuals rather than defined by God.
That worldview has now deeply shaped Western culture.
Instead of asking:
**What is true?**
People ask:
**How do I feel about it?**
Instead of asking:
**What does God say?**
They ask:
**What does this mean to me?**
That is how a society can look at the murder of three children and begin framing the issue around feelings rather than objective morality.
Subjective truth becomes more important than reality.
Once that happens, almost anything can eventually be justified.
The Feminist and Marxist Attack on Marriage
The discussion also turned toward the broader cultural hostility toward marriage, motherhood, and traditional family roles.
Cultural Marxism has spent decades portraying traditional marriage as oppressive.
The husband is presented as the oppressor.
The wife is presented as the victim.
Motherhood becomes a burden.
Children become limitations.
Marriage becomes an institution from which women must be liberated.
That worldview produces consequences.
When marriage and motherhood are treated as forms of bondage, society should not be surprised when hostility toward those institutions increases.
I shared how my own wife has increasingly encountered women who seem openly hostile toward traditional femininity, long marriages, and women who genuinely love being wives and mothers.
That kind of hostility is not accidental.
It flows from a worldview.
Why Happy Marriages Are Becoming Countercultural
I had a conversation with Anni Cyrus about this issue, and she made an important observation.
She pointed out that some women may resent other women who have maintained long, happy marriages.
A woman who loves her husband, works alongside him, raises children, embraces traditional femininity, and enjoys her marriage increasingly represents something countercultural.
That life contradicts decades of feminist propaganda claiming that marriage is oppressive and motherhood is limiting.
A happy traditional marriage becomes an argument against the ideology.
And sometimes, people become hostile toward the very thing that disproves what they have been taught.
Misery often does love company.
Biblical Marriage Is Not Tyranny
The word “submission” has been distorted by modern culture.
Many people hear it and immediately picture domination or authoritarianism.
But Dr. Woods pointed to Ephesians 5:21, which comes before the instructions to husbands and wives:
> “Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.”
Marriage involves mutual submission under God.
The husband is commanded to love his wife as Christ loved the church.
That is sacrificial leadership.
It is not domination.
It is not control.
It is service.
A husband who follows Christ is supposed to protect his wife, care for her, sacrifice for her, and lead her in a way that earns trust.
Protection Is Not Oppression
I explained that in my own marriage, there are times when I tell my wife that I am not trying to control her.
I am trying to protect her.
If there is a dangerous area, dangerous person, or dangerous situation, a husband should care enough to say something.
That is not oppression.
That is responsibility.
And the same principle works in both directions.
My wife has told me when something is not good for my health.
She has encouraged me to make decisions that protect me physically.
There are times when I submit to her good counsel because she loves me and wants me to remain healthy.
Biblical marriage is not a one-way dictatorship.
It is a God-ordained relationship where husband and wife serve, protect, and care for each other under Christ.
Follow Me as I Follow Christ
Dr. Woods pointed to Paul’s statement:
> “Follow me as I follow Christ.”
That principle applies directly to marriage.
A wife is not called to follow a husband simply because he demands authority.
The husband himself must be following Christ.
He must be growing spiritually.
He must be learning how Christ treats him so he can understand how he should treat his wife.
That is why marrying an unbelieving or spiritually immature man is so dangerous.
If a man does not understand Christ’s love, sacrifice, patience, and grace, how can he properly lead a wife?
Trust grows when a husband consistently demonstrates wisdom, protection, love, and faithfulness.
Submission becomes easier when trust has been earned.
Violence Is Preparing the Culture for Something Worse
The brutality we see today may also be preparing the world for future persecution.
Children are devalued.
Marriage is mocked.
Motherhood is attacked.
Biblical masculinity and femininity are condemned.
Christianity is increasingly treated as dangerous.
The pattern is moving in a predictable direction.
I believe Satan is conditioning society to hate the very institutions God ordained.
Eventually that hostility will focus increasingly on the people who still defend those institutions—biblical Christians.
Dr. Woods agreed that the culture’s growing acceptance of murder and violence fits the pattern of the days of Noah and the prophetic environment that precedes the Tribulation.
The Hardening of the Gentile World
I also raised another prophetic observation.
Romans speaks of a partial hardening of Israel during the present Gentile age.
But today, we appear to be watching something shift.
The Gentile world is becoming increasingly hardened toward God.
Western nations are rejecting biblical morality.
The culture is becoming more violent, more hostile to Christianity, and more accepting of evil.
At the same time, I am encountering Jewish people who are increasingly willing to speak with biblical Christians, come on our broadcasts, and engage with us even though they do not yet accept Jesus as Messiah.
Dr. Woods agreed that this could represent an interesting reversal.
When Christ first came, Israel was hardened while many Gentiles were receptive.
As the present age moves toward its conclusion, we may be seeing the inverse begin to emerge.
Seven Signs Converging at Once
Dr. Woods also discussed the subject he plans to address at an upcoming prophecy conference: **convergence**.
He identified multiple developments occurring simultaneously.
Rampant murder.
Growing interest in rebuilding the Temple.
Technology capable of supporting the kind of surveillance and economic control described in Revelation 13.
Massive data centers.
A movement toward one-world religion.
Political figures claiming Christianity while denying the exclusivity of Christ.
A broader spiritual environment that has the appearance of religion while denying biblical truth.
Any one of these trends would be noteworthy.
Seeing them develop together is even more significant.
Dr. Woods described these as unique, messianic times.
Data Centers and the Infrastructure of Revelation 13
One of those developments is technological.
Dr. Woods specifically pointed to data centers as potential infrastructure for the surveillance society described in Revelation 13:16–18.
The Bible describes a system in which economic participation becomes dependent upon compliance with a centralized authority.
For generations, prophecy students wondered how such worldwide control could technically be possible.
Today, the question is becoming easier to answer.
Massive computing capacity.
Artificial intelligence.
Digital identity.
Financial tracking.
Surveillance networks.
Data centers capable of processing enormous amounts of information.
The infrastructure required for that kind of system is rapidly being constructed.
The Rise of a One-World Religious Spirit
Dr. Woods also pointed to King Charles and the growing language of representing “all faiths.”
Historically, Britain’s monarch was tied specifically to the Protestant faith.
Today, that language is changing toward a broader religious inclusivity.
At the same time, political candidates in America increasingly identify as Christians while teaching that Jesus is merely one path among many.
That is not Christianity.
Jesus Christ does not claim to be one option among many.
The rise of a spirituality that uses Christian terminology while denying biblical doctrine is exactly the kind of religious environment Scripture warns about.
What the Lindsay Clancy Case Ultimately Shows Us
The Lindsay Clancy case is tragic beyond words.
But it also reflects something larger.
A society increasingly confused about murder.
A society searching for excuses instead of accountability.
A culture hostile toward marriage and motherhood.
A worldview that replaces objective truth with feelings.
A growing acceptance of violence.
A weakening respect for the image of God in man.
These are not isolated cultural problems.
They are worldview problems.
And when we place them alongside Scripture, they take on prophetic significance.
As it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be.
The world is becoming more violent.
The culture is becoming more hardened.
The institutions God created are being attacked.
And multiple prophetic trends are converging at the same time.
Our responsibility is not to panic.
It is to understand the times, remain grounded in Scripture, protect our families, honor God’s design for marriage and life, and refuse to let a violent culture redefine good and evil for us.
The question is not what society feels.
The question is what God has said.
